Description
Financial aid professionals play a crucial role in assisting students make their higher education aspirations a reality. This position is responsible for assisting prospective and continuing students as they navigate through the financial aid and funding options. The successful candidate will have a passion for excellence and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. The position requires significant organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and multitask An employee in a position allocated to this class will serve as a knowledgeable resource in the completion of the FAFSA and scholarship applications, addressing inquiries, maintaining student financial aid records, collecting documents, and ensuring that students are well-informed about the various financial aid programs available to them.

  • Maintains an exceptional knowledge base on federal, state, institutional, and external award programs.
  • Provides excellent service to both internal and external customers.
  • Assists with completion of the FAFSA and scholarship applications, maintains records, and assists in collection of documents.
  • Advises high school counselors in five-county area regarding student financial aid programs.
  • Performs clerical duties and compiles a variety of detailed reports.
  • Participates in community outreach, giving financial aid presentations when needed.

Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of federal and state laws, procedures and guidelines. Knowledge of accounting procedures. Familiarity with various software applications, to include but not limited to, Microsoft and Excel. Skill in use of calculator. Knowledge of basic computer data entry operations. Ability to keep accurate and complete records. Ability to relate to students, other college personnel and community members. Ability to speak in front of large crowds.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate of Arts degree in appropriate area plus two years records management experience or other related area; or high school diploma plus three years records experience, one of which preferably is in related area. Computer literate.
