Description
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, general ledger accountability, financial reporting, audit preparation, and other special projects as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
o Accounting documents, records and reports are prepared, maintained, and typed accurately and in a timely manner.
o Department files are appropriately maintained.
o Account reconciliations are correct and completed in a timely manner.
o Good communication and coordination exists with Company personnel. Assistance and support are provided as needed.
o Management is appropriately informed of activities.
o Accounting functions are completed in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience:
o Bachelor degree in accounting and at least 5 years of experience in a business accounting department.
o This position requires attention to detail and high compliance skills.
o MBA or CPA certification is a plus.
o Cooperative accounting experience is a plus.

Required Knowledge:
o Knowledge of Microsoft Office computer application.
o Ability to learn accounting software.
o Advanced knowledge of accounting.

o Able to use computer applications, office equipment, and telephone.

Language Skills:
o Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

o Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

o Ability to solve practical problems with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
o Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Additional Information
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
o Accounting Activities
o Maintains General Ledger.
o Prepares month-end financial statements.
o Prepares month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance and balance sheet reconciliations.
o Serve as key point of contact for external auditors; manage preparation and support of external audits.
o Responsible for tax status, tax compliance and proper filing of tax returns.
o Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding financial issues.
o Fixed asset processing and reporting.
o Research and reconcile all discrepancies.
o Auditing and verifying documents.
o Financial Planning
o Assists department managers with preparation of annual budget.
o Provides training and leadership in financial planning.
o Verifies monthly inventory balances.
o Reviews processes and makes recommendations for improvement.
o Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
o Notifies the CFO and/or President on issues that affect the Cooperative.
o Maintains strict confidentiality.
o Ensures that work area is clean, secure and well maintained.
o Completes special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.
