Job Title: Audit Manager

Reports to: Director of Internal Audit

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary Grade: EX05

Supervisory Responsibility: Yes

SUMMARY:

The Audit Manager is responsible for the examination and analysis of records to determine design and effectiveness of internal control operating procedures. The Audit Manager recommends changes and enhancements to existing policies and controls to ensure they are current, adequate, functional and utilized in accordance with the standards established by the company, industry standards and regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by supervisor and/or Trustco Bank's Board of Directors.
  • Functions independently of management to help evaluate the Bank's operating controls, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Adherence the Bank's code of conduct and the Audit Department's established policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for reviewing banking regulations, interacting with Bank departments, and completing/reviewing internal audits.
  • Collects and analyzes data to detect deficient controls, duplicated efforts, extravagance, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and/or Bank operating controls, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Prepares materials for the Audit Committee meetings.
  • Writes audit reports.
  • Reports audit results and deficiencies in internal controls to management.
  • Manages team of internal auditors, reviewing their workpapers and providing guidance.
  • Assists with financial, operational, fiduciary, information technology and confirmation audits.
  • Coordinates with external audit firms and provide requested documentation.
  • Continues to building proficiency of internal audit techniques and accounting principles by attending internal training, external training, and completion of continuing education courses.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• A bachelor's degree in a business-related field and four years' experience or equivalent level of education and experience.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Well organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work to time sensitive deadlines.

• Ability to work well independently and in groups.

• Previous supervisory experience required.

• Working knowledge with Microsoft Office Programs; Excel and Word.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• A master's degree in a business-related field.

• Certifications including CPA, CIA, CISA, CFIRS, CBA, CRCM desired or working to obtain a certification within two years.

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS:

This is a full-time position. Office hours Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

TRAVEL:

Travel using personal vehicle, occasional overnight travel. Valid driver's license required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace; bilingual skills a plus. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, including but not limited to company policies and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.
